In order to take our cutting edge programs to the next level, we are asking the community to provide needed financial support. Becoming a member of LifeCycles is an inexpensive and easy way to show your support for our programs and for our vision of a sustainable Victoria.

Membership costs:
Individual memberships are $35 per year, or sign up your entire household for just $50. Even better, become a Sustainer and spread your contribution out with a monthly deduction.

To pay for your membership online, click here and click on PayPal Donate. You do not need a PayPal account to use this service. Under Purpose, type "Membership" and enter the appropriate amount. Proceed to checkout. Or, click on DonateNow, CanadaHelps.org, enter your amount and under Message for LifeCycles, type "Membership". You can also send a cheque by mail to LifeCycles at: LifeCycles, Unit 2 - 625 Hillside Ave., Victoria, BC V8T 1Z1. A tax receipt will be sent to the address you provide.

Support our Youth and Linda is in Monday Mag!

Check out this week's Monday Magazine, as our very own food policy & planning programmer extraordinaire Linda Geggie is interviewed to promote the Food Matters forum mentioned in a previous post. Reynolds Secondary school Needs Your Vote in BC Green Games
The students and staff at Reynolds Secondary school in Victoria, BC have done an incredible amount of work in creating the Reynolds Green Spaces Project, and they need Victoria's support in continuing their work. The winning project will receive $1000.
Voting ends Sun. March 15 - follow the instructions below:
1. go to BC Green Games
2. go to REGISTER--top left
4. Choose correct category--student, parent, supporter...
5. Fill in information (choose own login and password)
6. You will be e-mailed your confirmation (can only register to vote once per e-mail account)
7. Now you can vote: go to gallery in top menu
8. Go to bottom left drop down box and order by "popular vote"
9. The Reynolds projects are:
-Courtyard Green Space (right now this one is in 2nd place and most important to vote for!!!)
-The Mighty Oak
-Zero Waste Recycling
-Eco-Outreach
10. Click on each one (feel free to read all about it and watch student-made videos and power points)
11. Click on VOTE (top right) to register your vote.... you may vote for up to 5 projects...we hope you will give one vote to each of ours!

YouthCore Project Showcase Friday March 27, 3-5 pm
YouthCore is a very major part of LifeCycles' work, and they will be showcasing some of their really cool and innovative projects from the past year.
Please stop by the LifeCycles office at 625 Hillside Avenue from 3-5 pm, Fri. Mar. 27.
Some examples of projects that will be showcased are:
TAVmap — young parents resource map
En Nuit — downtown resources for youth available after 10pm
The Cost of Convenience — a documentary film about the environmental impact of plastic water bottles and the privatization of water
Sooke Garden Resource Guide — community map of resources to create a community garden in the Sooke area.

Call for Volunteers!

LifeCycles has a range of volunteer opportunities throughout the year, from helping out in the office to picking fruit to gardening. Fill out a volunteer application form .
Here's some areas of need:

Fruit Tree Project
Fruit Tree Project visits houses all over Victoria from July to October. Volunteers will pick and sort fruit. Team leaders will help coordinate the picking schedule and picking teams. Fruit Tree Volunteers are invited to take a portion of the fruit home with them.

Growing Schools
Volunteers help to lead classroom and garden activities at primary schools throughout Victoria. Training is provided. Email growingschools@gmail.com for more information.

Springridge Commons
Springridge has a garden maintenance day every Saturday from 10am to 12pm at the Common, located at the corner of Gladstone and Chambers St in Fernwood. Email growingschools@gmail.com for more information.

Operations support
We need help with a few things round the office – email info@lifecyclesproject.ca if you are able to help with:
Building shelves in the supply room
Responding to requests for publications
Managing our membership database
Helping with web updates

LifeCycles Board
We are currently looking for one or two enthusiastic volunteers to join our Board of Directors. The board’s work plan includes fundraising, overseeing programs and finances, communicating with the public, and supporting our staff.
